I first heard about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) when I was 14. My Aunt was talking about a distant cousin who had FASD diagnosis. My cousin had left the water on in the bath tub and flooded the house. My family was talking about how difficult it was to know she wouldn’t learn from that, and she would likely do the same thing again. Cathy Bidwell is a social worker at Kinark Child and Family Services. She began her career with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work, working with Dually Diagnosed Adults at the Mental Health Centre, Penetangusishene. After completing her Masters Degree in Social Work, Cathy began working in Children’s Mental Health. She has been a clinical therapist at Thistletown Regional Centre, Interface Program, and is currently providing therapeutic services to children and families in the Simcoe Program at Kinark.
